Job Description

Working pattern, 37 hours a week, term time only plus non pupil days.

About the role:

This is a permanent contract, term time plus non pupil days. There will be flexibility to work differing patterns according to the needs of the provision and this will include night awake shifts.

Location: The View, Southview College, Conrad Road, Witham, Essex CM8 2SD

Pay :Actual Salary £ 22,140.63, pay award pending after 1 year and completion of Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (funded by Southview School).

The Role:

We are seeking to appoint a caring, highly motivated person to join a team of professionals working with children and students with a wide range of complex needs including physical, learning difficulties and medical needs.

The Opportunity:

Southview is an outstanding special school for pupils aged 3-19 years. In January 2023 we opened our new College building, catering for our College students and Key Stage 4 pupils. As part of the build, we have two five bedroom residential flats (The View) on the first floor.

The View is available for Southview pupils and students from age 12. We envisage pupils and students spending anything from one term to three terms in The View at any one time. There will probably be a focus on our older College students who are preparing to live in supported accommodation, or independently. The View is an education intervention; the primary purpose of a residential placement is to support broad education targets and, by definition, the role will involve liaising with teachers and other professionals.

We can offer you the opportunity to:

Spend time with amazing young people and their families
Join a hardworking, committed and professional team of staff with a common purpose.
Be key to the development, shaping and success of this provision.
Benefit from Hope Trust terms & conditions of employment
Work week days and term time patterns (no weekends or school holidays)

This is a permanent role working 37 hours a week, term time only plus non pupil days and preparation days. The View will be occupied Monday to Thursday nights, term time only.

Once every two weeks will be 34 hours per week so the remaining hours (3 hours) of the contract are dedicated towards study time for the Level 3 Diploma and preparation days (4 days in a school year).

Interested candidates must have the flexibility to work differing patterns according to the needs of the provision - this may include night awake shifts.

We consider visits to The College and The View essential. If you are interested in the role, please contact Andrea Kelsey in the first instance on 01376 503505.
