Role: Alpha Trust Payroll and Pensions Officer
Position Type: Administration, finance and HR
Pay Range: Scale 8 Points 25 to 28 (FTE Salary £33,945 to £36,648 with pay award pending)
Position start: As soon as possible.
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: 25 hours per week, term time plus two weeks including one week worked in the Easter break and one week worked in the summer break. The working pattern for the role is 9:00am to 2:00pm from Monday to Friday, but some flexibility can be offered for the right candidate.

The Alpha Trust has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed person to join our friendly team in the role of Payroll and Pensions Officer.
We are a small but growing Multi-Academy Trust with five schools based in Colchester and Manningtree. We are dynamic, innovative and highly successful. The Trust has a small central team of finance and HR staff who work in collaboration with teams in our schools to deliver finance and payroll on behalf of the Trust. The post is based in the Alpha Trust offices on the site of Colchester County High School for Girls.
The main duties of the role include:
· Preparation and processing of payroll and pension changes for employees across the Trust;
· Working with schools on the on-boarding of staff new to the Trust schools;
· The preparation of returns to the HMRC and pension schemes;
· Dealing with complex payroll cases including in relation to child-related absences, sickness absences and holiday entitlement;
· Providing support and advice on payroll queries to colleagues in our schools.
Our successful candidate will demonstrate:
· Experience of delivering or supporting the delivery of payroll;
· Good numerical ability, accuracy and attention to detail
· The ability to meet deadlines and to prioritise competing tasks;
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.

Information about the School
Colchester County High School for Girls is part of Alpha Trust. It is a selective state school for academically able students aged from 11 to 18 years which consistently achieves public examination results at the highest level and Ofsted "Outstanding". Admission to the school is via the 11+ examination in Year 7; the school also admits academic students into the Sixth Form. The school is lead for the North East Essex Teaching School Alliance and Colchester Teacher Training Consortium is based on the site. Situated a mile to the west of central Colchester, the school is set in its own extensive grounds on a large, quiet campus.
