We are currently seeking a term time only Teaching Assistant to join our highly skilled and experienced team supporting the educational and mental health needs of young people admitted to the St Aubyn Centre NHS adolescent psychiatric unit. Our young people are aged 13 to 18 with significant mental health difficulties requiring a hospital inpatient admission.
You will be working with teachers in a wide range of curriculum activities from academic subjects and exam preparation, to therapeutic activities including creative and physical activities on and off site.
You will need to be caring, calm and self-aware. Experience of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and an understanding of the impact of trauma is required.

Essex Schools Pay scale 4. This is a term time only post (39 weeks) and is paid pro rata. Actual pay for 37 hour week £20,827 to £21,177. Pay award pending. Scale 5 may be considered for an exceptional, experienced candidate.

Information about the School
The St Aubyn Centre Therapeutic Education Department is the specialist education provisions for young people admitted to the NHS adolescent psychiatric unit in Colchester, Essex. We provide education for young people with serious mental health difficulties aged 13 to 18 .
The education department works closely with the nursing, medical and therapeutic teams at the centre to support the young people and enable them to return to the community as quickly as possible. We have strong links with local schools as well as with other community organisations.
