We are looking for a Senior SEND LSA to work within our small team of SEND LSAs supporting pupils with SEND (particularly AS) and to act as a lead practitioner in this regard by supporting, mentoring and modelling the very best SEND support.
Day to day you will work with any one of our SEND pupils, predominantly at KS1 and EYFS offering 1:1 and 1:2 learning support and personal care. In our inclusive school we use the model of having a small SEND team, who under the supervision of the SENCO rotate flexibly to offer learning support to a range of SEND pupils. In this way you would not be attached to one single child but become an expert in a small group of pupils. Additionally within the team you may be deployed to source resources, set up activities, plan and complete assessment activities/observations, take-turns in record keeping and offer general assistance to our SENCO. The Senior SEND practitioner will work closely with the SENCO and our newly appointed Pastoral Lead, working collaboratively to support the planning of an enriching, challenging and often bespoke curriculum.
We are very excited to be currently working on developing a nurture room to support a wide range of pupils. We believe a Senior SEND practitioner would be a great asset in co-designing this new provision.
Our ideal candidate must be passionate about inclusion and enjoy the challenge of meeting the needs of challenging and increasingly complex SEND within our mainstream setting. We think the key attributes and skills needed are: resilience, problem solver, flexible and adaptive, nurturing team player with a good sense of humour. We would like someone with a positive and upbeat personality.
We are looking for someone with wide SEND experience who may already have training in and be confident to share their experience with others. Continuing professional development is very important- we believe our staff should be fulfilled in their vocation and our children should receive the best level of expertise, skill and care, therefore in our school you will find a genuine commitment to your professional development.
This is a permanent position, 32 hours a week
Please see the Job Description and Person Specification for further details.
We are committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Following safer recruitment procedures an appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, medical checks and enhanced DBS clearance.
Visits to the school are encouraged and warmly welcome.
Diversity is important to us and growing a diverse team which represents and reflects our pupil population is a priority.
