The role of the Attendance and Welfare Officer is to provide a specialist service to assist the school in meeting their obligations and targets in relation to school attendance, especially persistent absence and severe absence. To advise the school on strategies to promote the regular and punctual attendance of all students and assist with the implementation of these strategies.

The principal responsibility is to raise school attendance. This will include, but is not limited to monitoring attendance data, identifying attendance trends or concerns, producing data reports for key stakeholders and implementing appropriate support and strategies to reduce the impact on learner attendance.

Start Date: September 2024
32.5 hours per week (8.30-3.30pm)
Term time only + Inset days = 39 weeks per year
Pay Scale: 17-21
Actual Salary: £21,664.97 - £23,212.46
(Full Time Equivalent Salary: £28,770 - £30,825)

Helena Romanes is a thriving, all-through school for children aged 4-18, situated in the beautiful North Essex countryside. It has good communications to London and the South East, and it is approximately 7 miles from Stansted Airport. This is an exciting time to join the school:
• In September 2021, the school opened a Primary phase, with children in Reception and Key Stage 1. Together with the expansion of the Sixth Form, the school will grow to become an all-through school of 2000 pupils from ages 4 to 18.
• It is planned that the school will relocate to a world-class, purpose built site, close to our current location in Dunmow.
• Helena Romanes has made excellent progress with the support of Saffron Academy Trust towards being judged by Ofsted as a Good school. Working with the talented senior leadership team that is in place across all phases of the school, and drawing on the commitment from staff to provide the best possible outcomes for the pupils.
