Premises Manager at Manningtree High School

Pay Scale - Scale 7, points 18b - 24 (negotiable dependant on experience)

Location: Manningtree High School, Colchester Road, Lawford, Manningtree CO11 2BW

Start Date: 1st September 2024

Hours / Week: 37 hours per week

Working Weeks: 52 weeks per year

Contract type: Permanent

We are looking for a Premises Manager to join our school team.

Working with the Director of Operations, their key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a facilities management programme, including planned, preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Assisting with the management of large capital and refurbishment projects
  • Preparing and managing annual maintenance budgets
  • Regularly reviewing annual facilities contracts and establishing relationships with key suppliers
  • Establishing an effective system to secure the premises during and outside school hours
  • Ensuring that the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard
  • Overseeing the provision of Waste Management services
  • Ensuring that there is a suitable regime of statutory health & safety compliance

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements, security and emergency procedures and reactive, routine and planned preventive maintenance. Substantial experience of premises management and managing site and cleaning staff is equally important.

This is a "hands-on" role and duties will include routine repairs and maintenance of the building fabric, general DIY and estate duties.

Applicants must have good DIY skills, initiative and practicality, a positive approach to teamwork, good written and verbal communication skills and physical fitness, as some lifting and porterage is required. A full, clean driver's licence is required and if currently without full D1 minibus entitlement, a willingness to undertake the necessary training is expected, as well as any other relevant training. Applicants must be IT literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

The Premises Manager will ensure the provision of a fit for purpose, efficient and effective site and facilities service, and a safe, clean and pleasant environment for staff, students and visitors which supports teaching and learning.

This is a full-time post and will include some evening and weekend working.
