Downham Primary School, working in partnership with Berlesduna Academy Trust, has an exciting opportunity for a Caretaker to join our fantastic team asap.
The hours are 7:00am to 12:00pm Monday to Friday, 25 hours per week. Term time only plus 2 weeks in the school holidays (41 weeks per year).
Salary Scale 4, Point 7 (Range 7-8) Actual starting salary £14,765 per annum (April 2024 Payrise pending) includes paid annual leave which must be taken during school closure periods).

Downham Primary School, based in Ramsden Heath, Billericay is working in partnership with the Berlesduna Academy Trust (www.berlesduna.co.uk), where the vision is to create and foster a culture of high aspiration, enjoyment for learning, academic success and lifelong skills amongst all pupils, regardless of their social, economic or cultural background.
We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker who will be able to contribute to the smooth running of school by carrying out a range of caretaking duties, including security and supervision of the site and related equipment, and other caretaking duties including cleaning, maintenance and porterage. The Caretaker will be working under the direction of a site manager but will need to demonstrate an ability to manage their own workload and prioritise duties.
We are looking for someone who:
· has experience of caretaking and/or buildings maintenance/security
· has a good understanding of health and safety
· can work well individually, and with others, with good communications skills and excellent organisation skills
· has the ability to operate simple machinery to perform maintenance duties
· can demonstrate skills such as plumbing, plastering, joinery, or other building/maintenance skills
· has good reading and writing skills and the ability to use basic computer systems
· has the ability to establish rapport and respectful trusting relationships with others, including young children
· has good time management with a flexible approach where needed.
