Learning Support Assistants (x2 positions) - Alternative Provision

Salary: Band B Point 7-12

(£17,570.37 - £19,108.14 per annum)

31 hours and 40 minutes per week

37 weeks per year (term time only)

8.30am - 3.20pm (Monday-Friday) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Start Date: September 2024

Are you looking for that new and rewarding role in education?

A new opportunity has arisen, for Learning Support Assistants to join our successful team supporting students in the Alternative Provision environment, to assist student learning and improve educational outcomes.We are seeking to appoint Learning Support Assistants who have experience, or an interest, in supporting children. You will have a passion for working with pupils and assisting them on their journey. You will need to have an understanding of the subjects that you support the children in, be able to demonstrate a fair attitude and apply rules consistently. You will be resilient and have excellent de-escalation skills. The ideal candidate will be able to nurture supportive relationships and be able to demonstrate a practical, hands-on approach to supporting teaching. In addition to this, you will be required to assist the children during lunch time.

The candidates will preferably have relevant NVQ qualifications or equivalent. They must have a good standard of English and Mathematics and basic computer skills. Previous experience is desirable.

· Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour

· Knowledge of successful strategies to engage pupils with specific and significant needs

· Experience of the EYFS and / or KS1 curriculum

· Flexible and adaptable with timetabling and the daily routines

· Excellent communication skills

· Ability to liaise with parents and relevant staff

· Personal Care

· Strong behaviour management skills

This position will involve:

· Supporting pupils, to ensure they are engaged in learning activities

· Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom

· Act as a role model, setting high expectations of conduct and promoting positive pupil behaviour, to create a safe and inclusive learning environment

· Providing feedback to the classroom teacher on the pupil's progress against lesson plans, the conduct of the lesson and keeping pupil-related records

· Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures about health & safety, welfare and wellbeing and safeguarding

· Provide additional support to the teachers in the classrooms,

· To establish positive relationships with the pupils in lessons being covered

· Excellent written skills with the ability to multi-task

· The ability to remain calm under pressure and remain positive

· The ability to follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise students' welfare

· GCSE Maths and English
