Peripatetic Teachers

St John's is a co-educational Independent School for pupils aged between 2 and 16 years. We are proud of our educational provision and offer you the opportunity to join our successful school.

We are looking for inspiring peripatetic teachers to join our team at St John's School. We offer lessons to pupils from Year 3 to Year 11, and currently provide lessons in Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Singing, Violin, and Piano. We are looking for teachers of Drums and Guitar, as we have pupils ready and waiting to learn, however we welcome applicants for other instruments as well.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have the enthusiasm to deliver creative, engaging and challenging lessons that will stimulate pupil learning.
  • Have high expectations of children's achievements and behaviour.
  • Be enthusiastic, a team player, self-motivated and innovative.
  • Be a positive role model for our pupils.
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to enthuse and motivate.
  • Be an inclusive practitioner who can flexibly tailor their approach to ensure every child feels understood and supported.

Tasks and Duties would include:

  • To plan, resource, arrange music for and deliver imaginative, interactive and inspiring instrumental lessons that ensure that effective learning takes place and pupils make excellent progress.
  • To teach engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and involve pupils and improve pupil attainment.
  • To monitor progress and set targets for all pupils.
  • To maintain regular and productive communication with parents, including to report on progress and achievements.
  • To be accountable for pupil progress and attainment levels of pupils who receive instrumental lessons.

St John's School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. This appointment will be subject to the satisfactory medical clearance, reference checks and enhanced DBS check.
