We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistantto join our team, fostering independence and skills development in students so they can reach their full potential.
Job Requirements:
- Provide individualised learning support in both classroom and support centre settings.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the Supported employment managerto ensure effective and tailored support.
- Assist in the implementation of learning support systems, processes, and procedures.
- Act as an advocate for students with additional needs, liaising with teaching staff as appropriate.
- Stay fully informed about Individual Support Plans and ensure teachers receive necessary support information.
- Commit to continuous professional development to maintain up-to-date specialist knowledge.
- Participate in community activities within the support centre.
- Adhere to college policies on student welfare, health and safety, and safeguarding.
The right candidate will have:
Essential
- Qualified toGCSE/Level 2 in Maths and English.
- Ability to work flexibly and respond creatively to students' diverse needs.
- Resilience and adaptability in working with students who may have complex learning, social, or medical needs.
- Strong communication skills and sensitivity to different communication styles.
- Initiative and confidence in offering creative solutions to learning support challenges.
- A team player with a 'can do' attitude, committed to fostering positive student outcomes.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within an educational environment.
Desirable
- Qualified to Level 3 or above in a specialist subject.
- Holds qualifications in Special Educational Needs (Level 3 or above).
- Previous experience working in an educational environment in a similar capacity.
