Are you passionate about supporting students with additional learning needs? Do you have the resilience, adaptability, and enthusiasm to make a real difference? We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistantto join our team, fostering independence and skills development in students so they can reach their full potential.

Job Requirements:

  • Provide individualised learning support in both classroom and support centre settings.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the Supported employment managerto ensure effective and tailored support.
  • Assist in the implementation of learning support systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Act as an advocate for students with additional needs, liaising with teaching staff as appropriate.
  • Stay fully informed about Individual Support Plans and ensure teachers receive necessary support information.
  • Commit to continuous professional development to maintain up-to-date specialist knowledge.
  • Participate in community activities within the support centre.
  • Adhere to college policies on student welfare, health and safety, and safeguarding.

The right candidate will have:

Essential

  • Qualified toGCSE/Level 2 in Maths and English.
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond creatively to students' diverse needs.
  • Resilience and adaptability in working with students who may have complex learning, social, or medical needs.
  • Strong communication skills and sensitivity to different communication styles.
  • Initiative and confidence in offering creative solutions to learning support challenges.
  • A team player with a 'can do' attitude, committed to fostering positive student outcomes.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within an educational environment.

Desirable

  • Qualified to Level 3 or above in a specialist subject.
  • Holds qualifications in Special Educational Needs (Level 3 or above).
  • Previous experience working in an educational environment in a similar capacity.
