Job Title: Assistant Caretaker

Scale 3, part time, permanent

30 hours per week - 52.14 weeks per year

Actual salary range £21,072- £21,408 dependent on experience.

Brightlingsea Primary School & Nursery are looking for a motivated, experienced, enthusiastic and caring Assistant Caretaker to support the Site Manager. The successful candidate will possess the ability to develop positive relationships with all members of the school community and have an aptitude for practical work. Duties will include:

· Reactive and preventative repairs and maintenance

· Health and safety checks and monitoring

· Locking and unlocking premises

· Grounds upkeep

· General security

· Porterage

· Record keeping

· Assisting with the supervision of premises and cleaning staff

· Liaising with contractors as well as staff, pupils andparents

We are seeking someone who:

· Is reliable, energetic, has vision and takes pride in their work

· Will ensure that our school site is safe, clean and tidy to provide a high-quality learning environment for our children

· Has a flexible approach to their work

· The ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Has good communication skills


Full driving licence and use of own car is essential, as you may be required to attend the school outside of normal working hours and purchase minor repair supplies.

Information about the School

In September 2018, Brightlingsea Infant School & Nursery and Brightlingsea Junior School became Brightlingsea Primary School and Nursery. We are a large Primary School, taking children from 2 to 11 years, with a three form entry and approximately 750 children on roll. This is an exciting time for our school and we are looking to further improve outcomes for our children and families. As a large school we are able to offer some exciting opportunities for staff: we recognise the importance of professional development and believe in investing in staff to help us to achieve our vision.
