We are looking for an exceptional Headteacher - someone with the experience, ambition, and values to lead one of Southend's most respected special schools. You will have a proven track record in senior SEND leadership, a deep commitment to pupils with complex needs, and the personal qualities to inspire a talented staff team and build strong relationships with families and the wider community. Above all, you will share our belief that every young person at St. Christopher deserves the very best.
We have put together this recruitment pack to give you a genuine sense of who we are - our pupils, our staff, our values, and what we are looking for in our next Headteacher. We hope it gives you not just information, but a feeling for what makes St. Christopher such a special place to work.
We warmly encourage you to visit the school before you apply. There is no substitute for seeing our pupils and staff in action, and we would love the opportunity to show you around and answer any questions you have. To arrange a visit or have an informal conversation about the role, please contact Dan Woodman, CEO-Designate, at office@tscs.southend.sch.uk or on 01702 524193.
Information about the School
The St. Christopher School is a specialist special school for Communication & Interaction for pupils aged 3 - 19. We work with a wide range of pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, communication & interaction difficulties and range of learning difficulties. The school is part of SEN Trust Southend.
SEN Trust Southend opened as a formal partnership on 1 September 2017. The four special schools, The St. Christopher School, Kingsdown School, Lancaster School and St. Nicholas School have always worked closely together to create a strong group of special schools which aim to meet the majority of needs of those pupils who require specialist support in a specialist educational school with Southend. We created the Multi-Academy Trust to help us continue this work.
