Job Title: PE Teacher (ECT) - Special School
Pay Scale: Teachers Main Scale
Hours: Full-time
Start Date: 1September 2026
The Trust: InMarch 2025 Treetops School was judged by Ofsted to havemaintainedthe standardsidentifiedat thepreviousinspection.Thepreviousinspection was in February 2020, at which time Treetops was judged as Outstanding. Treetops Free School, which officially opened in September 2022, was judged Good in its first Ofsted inspection in March 2024.
Students throughoutTreetopsLearning Community have complex needs varying from moderate to severe learning difficulties, which mayinclude;speech and communication difficulties,autismand global developmental delay.
The Role: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Early Career Teacher of Physical Education (PE) to join our dedicated team in a supportive special school environment. Pupils throughout the Treetops Learning Community have complex needs varying from moderate to severe learning difficulties, which may include; speech and communication difficulties, autism and global developmental delay. This is an excellent opportunity for an ECT who is passionate about inclusive sport and physical activity and committed to helping pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) develop confidence, physical skills, and enjoyment of movement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality PE lessons that are appropriately differentiated to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEND.
- To teach pupils across all 4 pathways, inclusive of pupils who have an SLD profile. This will include using a variety of strategies including use of visual/communication aids, maintaining structured routines and using sensory-based approaches
- Adapt activities to ensure all pupils can participate and achieve success in physical education.
- Work closely with teaching assistants to support learning and ensure effective pupil participation.
- Direct PE technicians to prepare equipment, support pupils and gather appropriate resources for lessons.
- Support pupils to work towards their EHCP targets, embedding these within PE lessons where appropriate.
- Record evidence of pupil progress towards EHCP outcomes and contribute to monitoring and review processes.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress and use this to inform planning and teaching.
- Ensure PE lessons are safe, structured, and follow school safeguarding and health and safety policies.
- Contribute positively to the wider school community including supporting the organisation of sports days and events
- Engage fully with the ECT induction programme.
- Organise and lead an extra-curricular opportunity for pupils after school once each week
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Has a passion for inclusive PE and supporting pupils with SEND.
- Is enthusiastic, organised, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Can motivate and engage pupils of varying abilities and needs.
- Can follow the school's safeguarding policies and H&S procedures
