Gosbecks Primary School and Prettygate Infant and Junior Schools are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Lead to work across our school partnership.
This position has a start date of 1st September 2026, but there will be a 2 days paid handover in July.
This is a key role focused on promoting student wellbeing, improving attendance, and supporting safeguarding practices across our three schools. The successful candidate will also act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead on student welfare, ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all pupils
· Monitor, track, and improve student attendance, working proactively with families and external agencies
· Identify and support pupils at risk of persistent absence or disengagement
· Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting the DSL in managing safeguarding concerns, referrals, and casework
· Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding and attendance records in line with statutory requirements
· Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external professionals to support vulnerable students
· Promote a strong culture of safeguarding and welfare awareness across the school
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
· Experience working in a school or similar setting in a welfare, safeguarding, or pastoral role. Experience in Social Care would be desirable
· Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures
· Experience in managing attendance and working with families to improve outcomes
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· The ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality
· A proactive, resilient, and empathetic approach
· Relevant safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake training)
