Salary: Scale 5 Pt 10-13 (FTE pro-rata £27,694-£29,064)

Join a warm, caring Church of England village school where every child is known and valued.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced, practical and flexible Site Manager to play a vital role in keeping Radwinter CofE Primary School safe, welcoming and ready for learning.

About Radwinter CofE Primary School

Radwinter is a small, friendly voluntary aided Church of England primary school serving our rural village and nearby communities. Our Christian vision - "Growing and learning together to embrace life in all its fullness" (John 10:10) - underpins everything we do. We are proud of our inclusive culture: pupils, families, staff and governors work together to build a nurturing environment where children feel safe, accepted and able to flourish.

Key facts:

Small village school with five classes.
Oversubscribed with 140 pupils; the school is proactive in pupil admissions and community engagement.
A strong record of inclusive practice: SEND provision described by Ofsted (April 2024) as "impressive".
Values: fairness, forgiveness, kindness, respect and service.

We follow the OFSTED framework and are focused on consistency and quality across curriculum, behaviour, personal development and leadership.

About the role

You will ensure the school site and buildings are safe, secure and well maintained so staff and children can focus on learning and wellbeing. Working 10 hours per week (term time + one week) and reporting to the Finance and Compliance Leader, your duties will include:

Acting as keyholder and carrying out opening/closing and security procedures.
Carrying out routine caretaking, first‑line repairs and general maintenance (plumbing, redecoration, glazing, fencing etc.) and arranging specialist contractors where required.
Operating and monitoring heating and other building systems; carrying out frost precautions and emergency procedures.
Supervising cleaning standards, managing refuse / recycling and liaising with contractors.
Preparing the site for events and lettings, maintaining inventories and logging caretaking fees.
Supporting health & safety compliance across the site and reporting concerns to the Finance and Compliance Leader.
Conducting and recording routine health & safety checks as required (e.g. legionella testing, alarm testing, environment checks etc).

This post may require occasional out‑of‑hours response to alarms or emergencies. Appropriate risk assessments and equipment will be provided.

About you - the ideal candidate

You will be practical, reliable and proud to maintain a welcoming school environment. We're looking for someone who:

Has proven experience of caretaking, building maintenance and site security.
Is competent with heating plant, basic plumbing, glazing and DIY repairs, and is confident to prioritise and organise maintenance tasks.
Understands health & safety obligations and can implement safe systems of work.
Communicates clearly with staff, governors, contractors and families and works well as part of a small, close‑knit team.
Shows discretion and commitment to safeguarding; willing to work within school policies to keep pupils safe.
Is flexible, calm under pressure and able to manage time effectively.

If you are motivated to make a direct difference to children's daily experience and enjoy working in a school community that values kindness and service, we would love to hear from you.

What we offer

A welcoming, supportive Church school with a strong sense of community and shared values.
Opportunities to work closely with committed staff and governors who prioritise inclusion and high‑quality provision.
Clear lines of responsibility and supportive leadership to help you succeed in the role.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed - see the contact details below.
