Salary - Scale 5, point 10 -13 (FTE salary £27,694 - £29,064)

Actual: £20,052.58 to £21,044.57 (includes 5.7 weeks paid holiday)

Hours will be Monday to Friday, 8:45am -3:30pm (including a 30minute lunch break)31.25 hrs per week

39 working weeks - (term time plus 5x non pupil days)

Start date: 1st September 2026

Fixed term, three year appointment to: 31st August 2029 (The contractisfunding linked to the needs of a named child).

Are you passionate about supporting deaf learners and skilled in British Sign Language (BSL)?

We are seeking acommitted and enthusiastic Communication Support Worker (CSW) to join our inclusiveand forward-thinking team, the candidate must have (minimum) BSL Level 3.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, ensuring they can fully access and participate in their education. The ideal candidate will be able to strike the right balance between meeting the communication and learning needs of deaf children and facilitating their independence to ensure a fulfilling school experience. The ability to motivate and challenge young children is essential.

Job responsibilities:

  • To provide BSL communication support for a deaf child (currently in LKS2) to enable full curriculum access to all lessons.
  • To provide a deaf child access to the learning environment, promoting communication with peers and other adults and facilitating full inclusion into school life.
  • To help to develop and extend the language and communication of deaf children in line with expectations and targets set by multi agency support.

Our school is well maintained and boasts extensive grounds providing a large playing field, a Forest School area and two playgrounds. The outdoor pavilion provides shelter and is used as an outdoor classroom. We have seven main classrooms, a Nursery and a enhanced provision for the teaching of Hearing Impaired Children. The Nursery has places for 26 part-time pupils and they are involved in the social life of the school, helping them experience a very successful transition to our reception class in the mainstream school.The enhanced provision has 18 places and caters for pupils who are severe/profoundly deaf from across the whole of North East Essex.
