Higher Level Teaching Assistant
(View to teacher training within 18 months of appointment)
Salary: HLTA rate points 9-12- 31.25hours per week, Sept 2026 start
Monday- Friday 8.30-3.15, with 2 hours additional to run a club and attend weekly staff meetings.
Following the successful promotion of our current HLTAs to teacher training next year, we are seeking a highly motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to enhance our dedicated team at Engaines Primary School.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to cover classes across the school for PPA, teacher release time, subject coordinators, and management leaders' release. You will also be responsible for an after school club every term and attend staff CPD to further develop your skills towards teaching.You must be currently studying for a degree, in your own time, with a view to a future career in teaching- hopefully at Engaines!!

We are a foundation Primary school, with a good reputation for inclusion, sporting excellence and national level expected standards at the end of KS2. Our children follow our CHERISH* values, and love to learn. We have great facilities, a large field and well behaved children that start in our Nursery through to year 6. We are over-subscribed with waiting lists across all year groups, despite the falling rolls nationally. Engaines is a great place to learn and devlop your own CPD along the way. We have excellent succession at school with our last 2 HKLTAs in the posts graduating to teacher positions in September.

Key reponsibilities
Provide high-quality teaching and learning support to pupils across all year groups
Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons, promoting a love of learning and intellectual curiosity
Adapt teaching strategies to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils, including those with SEND
Make effective use of assessment to support pupils' progress and plansubsequentlessons
Managebehavioureffectively, creating a safe and stimulating learning environment
Requirements:
Currently working towards a degree, with a view to teacher training within 18 months of appointment if postsbecomeavailable
Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for education
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment
Experience in supporting pupils with diverse needs, including SEND
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
Available for training at INSET
Run an after-school club every term across the school year to further build exxperience
Desirable Qualities:
Previous experience covering classes
A commitment to professional development and a desire to progress in the teaching profession within 18 months
Creativity and the ability to develop engaging and innovative learning experiences
Applicants must have English and Maths qualification, at least GCSE grade C, or equivalent.
