Notley High & Braintree Sixth Form is part of the Bridge Academy Trust: a collegiate and collaborative Trust, where, first and foremost, each school is a place of (high quality) learning, where young people ENJOY, ENRICH, ACHIEVE & ASPIRE. The core purpose is to provide high quality continuity of every child's journey through education from 3 to 19, with a community and school-led school improvement approach and long-term sustainable strategy. Bridge Academy Trust is committed to its people strategy and prioritises staff's development to ensure they too can enjoy, enrich, achieve and aspire.
 About the role:
An opportunity has arisen for an ECT or soon to qualify ECT to join our fully staffed Science Department.
We are a supportive and dedicated team who share a love of our subjects and a commitment to helping young people succeed.

The profile of science at our school has grown significantly in recent years. At Key Stages 3 and 4, we follow the Ark curriculum, which provides students with a strong and ambitious foundation. At GCSE, they can choose either Combined Science or Triple Science, and we are proud to also offer GCSE Astronomy. At Sixth Form, we run A Level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, taught in specialist laboratories with excellent facilities for advanced practical work.

Our new curriculum has already led to rapid improvement in results, and it has been exciting to see more students choosing to study science beyond GCSE. Science at Notley is increasingly a springboard for the future: our alumni go on to study a wide range of STEM degrees and apprenticeships, from engineering to life sciences, at universities across the country.

We are fortunate to have 11 laboratories, and every teacher has their own teaching space. This allows us to create a strong sense of ownership and consistency for our students. Staff are also equipped with iPads, which we use at Key Stage 3 to assess progress, helping us to monitor learning and provide rapid, effective feedback.

The department is made up of nine teachers and three fantastic technicians, who play a vital role in ensuring high-quality practical work. We work closely together as a team, sharing ideas and supporting one another. It is a friendly, collaborative environment where both experienced colleagues and those earlier in their careers can thrive.

This is an exciting time to join us. You will find opportunities to teach across all key stages, including GCSE Astronomy and A Level sciences, as well as access to excellent training and development through the Ark network and local STEM hubs. Above all, you will be part of a department that continues to grow in strength and ambition, and where your enthusiasm for science will make a real difference.

If you are passionate about your subject and keen to help shape the next stage of our journey, we would be delighted to welcome you to our team.
