Required September 2026
Myland English Hub is seeking to recruit experienced and highly effective Early Years teachers and leaders to join our team of Early Language Literacy Specialists. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work alongside schools across our region (Essex and Suffolk), supporting high-quality literacy, language and writing provision in Reception and helping to improve outcomes for children, particularly those who need it most.
Background
Myland English Hub is one of 34 Department for Education-designated English Hubs, working nationally to improve outcomes in phonics and fluency, early language development and Reading for Pleasure. Through targeted, evidence-informed support, English Hubs play a key role in improving provision for children, particularly those in schools facing the greatest challenges.
As we continue to grow our work and expand our support in the Reception year, we are now looking to create a new team of Early Language Literacy Specialists. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced and passionate Early Years teachers and leaders to contribute to system-wide improvement, while deepening their own expertise in early language, literacy and writing, bringing benefits to both their own professional development and practice in their own school.
Myland English Hub supports schools across Essex and Suffolk.
The role
We are seeking to recruit skilled and committed Early Years teachers and leaders, who have played a leading role in improving Reception literacy outcomes and provision in their own schools. Early Language Literacy Specialists are seconded from their home school, with the full support of their headteacher, to work alongside schools supported by the English Hub.
Schools will be reimbursed for release time at a rate of £450 per day. (A Literacy specialist 'day' is 1.2 FTE and this amount of £450 includes a 0.2 FTE payment of £75 for preparation and follow up activity.)
Early Language Literacy Specialists are central to the English Hub offer and work closely with school leaders and teachers to strengthen early literacy provision in Reception, particularly the effective implementation of the DfE's Writing Framework.
Full details about the role are included in the attached application pack. Interested candidates are welcome to call us for an informal discussion about the role. Please contact Rebecca Jarrett (Hub Lead) on 01206 852109.
Applications must be made on the attached Hub application form and returned via admin@myland.essex.sch.uk . Please mark all applications for the attention of Debbie Griggs - Headteacher, to reach us by 4 p.m. on Tuesday 14th April.
Myland English Hub is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Offers of employment will be subject to the full safer recruitment process, including an enhanced disclosure and barring service check and satisfactory references.
