As one of the first people our children, parents, visitors and professionals meet, we are looking for someone who is welcoming, approachable and professional, with excellent communication and organisational skills.

The successful candidate will also undertake responsibilities as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and will play an important role in supporting our school's safeguarding arrangements.

The role will include:

  • Providing general administrative and clerical support
  • Acting as a first point of contact for parents, pupils and visitors
  • Dealing with telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries
  • Maintaining accurate pupil and school records
  • Supporting pupil attendance and following up absences and late arrivals
  • Assisting with school admissions and pupil records
  • Supporting the administration of school trips, visits and events
  • Preparing and distributing letters and other school communications
  • Providing first aid and supporting pupil welfare
  • Supporting school meal, Free School Meal, trip and other payment administration
  • Undertaking responsibilities as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Supporting school security and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
  • Handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is friendly, positive and approachable
  • Has excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Has good written and verbal communication skills
  • Is confident dealing with children, parents and visitors
  • Is able to remain calm and professional in a busy school office
  • Is able to prioritise their workload and use their own initiative
  • Is confident using IT, including email, Word and spreadsheets
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding
  • Is flexible and willing to support the changing needs of the school
  • Shares our commitment to providing the best possible environment for our pupils
  • Previous experience of working within a school or similar setting would be an advantage, as would experience of using Arbor or another school management information system.

Previous safeguarding/DSL experience and first aid training would be desirable. Appropriate training and professional development will be supported.

We can offer:

  • A welcoming and friendly school
  • A supportive and committed staff team
  • A varied role where no two days are quite the same
  • Opportunities for training and professional development
  • The opportunity to make a real contribution to the daily life of our school and the wellbeing of our pupils
  • We welcome applications from candidates who are organised, proactive and enjoy working with people in a busy and varied environment.
