Fixed Term SEN Learning Support Assistant posts
Starting September 2026
At Hamilton Primary, we don't just manage behaviour; we inspire minds. We believe that to give your best to our children, you need to feel supported, valued, and empowered. We are seeking passionate, forward-thinking individuals to join our brilliant team as SEN Learning Support Assistants.
In these roles, you will work closely with class teachers, you will help bring evidence-based practice to life, supporting pupils with additional needs in line with the National Curriculum and their specific SEND Support Plans.
If you have a great sense of humour, a solution-oriented approach, and a strong sense of social responsibility-whether you're helping in the classroom or joining our Eco-Warriors at the school allotment-we want to hear from you!
For this role you need to demonstrate the following skills:
- Mastery of low-demand, non-declarative communication (reducing direct questions, giving extended processing time) alongside fluency in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) tools like visual scales and communication boards.
- The ability to build deep relational trust and read incredibly subtle signs of emotional fatigue and "masking"
- Expertly breaking down multi-step instructions, cognitive tasks, and literacy demands into tiny, predictable, and visually organised steps (using task boards, mind maps, and assistive technology).
- High-level coordination and collaborative skills to seamlessly manage a complex, hybrid schedule (combining 3 days in school, 2 days of home tuition, and clinical therapies).
