Come and join Team Milwards

Milwards Primary School and Nursery is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to join our team.

Milwards is a friendly, welcoming primary school where relationships matter. We are proud of our supportive staff team, our inclusive approach and our commitment to doing the very best we can for every child. We work hard, we support one another and we believe that everyone who works in our school has an important part to play in children's success.

We want people to enjoy coming to work at Milwards and to feel that they are part of a team. Whether you are an experienced Learning Support Assistant or someone with the right qualities who is looking to begin a career working with children, we would be very pleased to hear from you.

About the role

One of the things we particularly value in our support staff is flexibility and adaptability. The needs of children - and therefore the needs of a primary school - can change, and we are looking for someone who is happy to respond positively to this.

As a Learning Support Assistant at Milwards, your role may include:

· supporting learning within a classroom;

· working with individuals or small groups of children;

· providing 1:1 support for a child, including a child with additional or special educational needs;

· delivering targeted interventions or additional learning support;

· supporting children's social, emotional and pastoral needs;

· helping children to develop independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours; and

· supporting pupils at other points during the school day as required.

Your deployment may change over time according to the needs of pupils and the school. We are therefore looking for someone who sees variety as a positive part of the job and is willing to work flexibly wherever their skills and support are most needed.

We are looking for someone who:

· genuinely enjoys working with children and wants to make a difference;

· is kind, patient and nurturing while maintaining high expectations;

· is flexible, adaptable and willing to embrace different responsibilities;

· can build positive relationships with children and adults;

· works well as part of a team and is willing to help others;

· is proactive and able to use their initiative;

· understands that children's needs can be very different and is committed to inclusion;

· is reliable, professional and has good communication skills; and

· brings positivity and a good sense of humour to a busy primary school.

Previous experience of working in a school or with children would be an advantage, but we are equally interested in the person you are. For the right candidate, enthusiasm, reliability, adaptability and a genuine commitment to children are every bit as important.

Come and meet us

We warmly encourage prospective applicants to visit Milwards before applying. Come and have a look around, meet some of our staff and children and get a feel for the school. We think the best way to understand what makes Milwards a great place to work is to see it for yourself.

Come and join Team Milwards - we would love to hear from you.
