Higher Level Teaching Assistant x 2 Vacancies available

Starting date: 14th September 2026 or as soon as possible for the start of the term.

Chipping Hill Primary School is looking to appoint two enthusiastic, motivated, outstanding and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join our wonderful, collaborative team. We firmly believe in supporting every staff member in their well-being and career development - ensuring we provide the best provision for all of our team.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate care, enthusiasm and empathy, who believe in our core values and specific ethos to add value to our experienced and excellent team of Higher Level Teaching Assistants.

The successful candidates will have recent and relevant experience of working, understanding and supporting children within an educational setting, demonstrate good teaching and learning skills, a commitment to team and collaborative working and able to display an innovative approach to education. They should thrive when working with children and have excellent communication skills. We are open to developing the best candidates through HLTA CPD opportunities.

Unlike many HLTA positions, this is not a general cover role. Successful candidates will be attached to a specific class (Year 1 or Year 3) and will become an integral part of the class team. Working alongside the class teacher, you will provide high-quality in-class support, contribute to pupils' progress and wellbeing both in class and through interventions, and cover the class when required. This approach enables our HLTAs to develop strong relationships with pupils, gain a deep understanding of the curriculum and play a central role in the life of the classroom. Although there may occasionally be a need to support elsewhere within the school, the vast majority of your time will be spent working within your allocated class.

It is essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate the following:

- Enthusiasm to work with children with a variety of different personalities and skill levels.

- Experience within Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, knowledge of the EYFS is desirable.

- Experience teaching both Core and Foundation subjects across the Primary School

- Experience planning targeted interventions

- Some experience adapting teaching to suit the needs of pupils

- A strong, confident individual who can take control of a classroom with excellent behaviour management skills.

- Able to engage well with pupils.

- Able to work under your own initiative.

- Smartly presented and with excellent time management skills.

- GCSE English and Maths (Grades A to C) or equivalent.

- Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice

- Recognition of the importance of safeguarding - knowing that it is everyone's responsibility

Hours will be 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 12.15 noon and 1.15pm to 3.30pm or 8:30am - 12:00pm and 1:00pm - 3:30pm, term time only. Actual salary will be £18,734 at point 10 up to £19,660 at point 13, 43.5 paid weeks (actual paid weeks will depend on length of service with ECC).

We offer a supportive and enjoyable working environment with a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children. We are a strong team who look after each other with the common goal of giving the children the best education they deserve. This is a rare opportunity to join our team - visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the Business Manager, Mrs Farren, to make an appointment.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
