Job description.

We are an inclusive, vibrant learning environment offering high quality educational and experiences for all.

We are looking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or an aspiring HLTA to join our school team. This role will involve working 1:1 with a child in Key Stage 2 with SEND. You will work alongside experienced class teachers, with support from the SENCo, to facilitate the child's successful transition to our school and ongoing development in line with codes of practice and school policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will be required to plan for and personalise learning experiences alongside the class teachers, as well as deliver adapted learning specific to the student's EHCP targets and needs.

Previous experience of working with young people with special education needs (SEND) is preferable but not essential. A keen interest in speech and language and/or SEND would be desirable.

To apply for HLTA positions, the following qualifications are essential: GCSE (or equivalent): English Literacy and Mathematics grades 5 or A*- C.

Our ideal candidate will work well as part of a team, be patient, tolerant, understanding and most importantly enjoy working with young people. The candidate will also be confident to use their initiative to adapt and be flexible to the needs of an individual child within a busy school environment.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and are encouraged. Please contact Mr Jona Davies to organise a convenient time for both parties.

St John's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the young people in our care and expect all members of the school community to share this commitment. The appointment will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS check and positive references.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
