Required for January 2021 (or earlier) - July 2021

Are you interested in a career in teaching but looking to gain more classroom experience? If you are a recent high-quality graduate, looking for a first step towards becoming a primary school teacher, this is an excellent opportunity.

Four primary schools in South Ockendon (Aveley, Benyon, Dilkes & Somers Heath) are looking to appoint Graduate Teaching Assistants to support children across the primary age range with catch-up interventions following the COVID-19 interruption in education. This may include supporting children in class, running small group sessions in school time or before/after school, working 1:1 with specific children and, with appropriate supervision, covering classes in the event of staff absence. You will gain a good insight into school life and, under the guidance of experienced staff, build an understanding of teaching and learning for primary aged children.

All four schools are partners in the Teach Thurrock Primary Partnership and the right candidates could be supported in their application for our teacher training programme during the 2021-22 academic year.

Successful candidates will be passionate about helping all children achieve their full potential, be positive and flexible in their approach to the daily challenges of a primary school and be keen to pursue teaching as a career. Some experience working with children is an advantage. Good English, Maths and communication skills are essential.

Catalyst Academies Trust is a small innovative group of primary schools who are geographically local. We work together to widen access to outstanding educational provision by supporting and empowering all staff to develop remarkable teaching and achievement outcomes.

If you would like to find out more about the role and our schools, please contact Paul Smith (Paul.Smith@catrust.org.uk) to arrange a call back from a senior member of staff or a visit to one of our schools.

Closing date: 30th November 2020. Interview date: Interviews will be held throughout November and December (as applications are received) as there are a number of vacancies to fill. You are encouraged to apply early.

Somers Heath is situated close to the M25 and A13 road links, near The Dartford Crossing and Lakeside Shopping Centre.

Catalyst Academies Trust are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and young people. We expect all our staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be made a conditional offer subject to an enhanced DBS check, medical check, and references. Applicants will also be required to complete a 'Disqualification by Association' declaration.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
