Learning Support Assistant/Targeted support for SEND pupil/s
Required Autumn Term 2020 (September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter)
31.25 hours per week ( with 30 minutes lunch break): 8.30 a.m. - 3.15 p.m. daily
An opportunity has arisen to work in our school supporting children with SEN from September 2020 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
The post will involve working under the direction of the class teacher, SENCO and Headteacher. It will involve working with individuals who have specific learning needs on a one-to-one basis in one of our Reception classes. There will also be a need to support pupils with their personal hygiene and intimate care requirements.
The hours for the post include lunchtime supervision of the named pupil/s.
The ideal candidate will have:
· at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
· experience of working in schools and a good understanding of how young children learn
· experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs
· knowledge and experience of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Makaton
· experience of working with children at early stages of their learning development
· the ability to create positive learning environments
· high expectations of pupil attainment and behaviour
· evidence of ability to enthuse and motivate pupils
· a strong and caring personality and be calm, patient and firm
· good organisation and communication skills
· a strong commitment to collaborative team-work and flexible working
