College Mentor (inc. Safeguard Deputy)

In partnership with mainstream providers, we aim to prepare each of our young people for adulthood whether it is to progress to further education, employment, supported or independent living.

We are looking for someone to provide a college mentor role, including being the deputy safeguard for KS5. You need to enjoy working with young people with learning difficulties, and have a passion in mentoring and supporting the students and families, allowing our young people to develop skills needed for adulthood.

The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills,be highly organised, understanding of confidentiality, work well under pressure and have confidence in liaising with families and outside agencies

You will be pivotal insupporting all new students' admission to the college, which will require home visits and parent presentation meetings.

You will be an enthusiastic individual who has the ability to inpsire our young people to reach their full potential.

We are predominantly looking for a candidate who wants to work within the college phase (years 12-14) however, there may be occasions where support is needed in the school phase of the academy.

You will have:

· A good standard of education

· Experience of working within an educational environment

· Some understanding of SEN e.g. autism, SLCN and ADHD

· Flair and creativity (ability to think outside the box)

· Determination to problem solve

· Good report writing skills and attention to detail

· Willing to attend opportunities for career development as well as suitable training in ASC, behaviour and curriculum programmes

Salary - starting at £16,745.46 (pro rota Scale 7 point 19)

Hours - 29.5 per week. 9:15 to 4pm (Mon-Thurs, with 45 minutes lunch break ) 9:15 to 3:15pm (Fri, with 30 minutes lunch break)

38 weeks per year

Information about the School

Castledon School is a Special School for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties and additional complex needs from Year 1 - Year 14.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
