We are seeking a highly motivated, ambitious and skilled classroom practitioner to lead our growing Business Studies and IT team. Business Studies is the most popular GCSE option in the school and the Department has a strong reputation and effective post 16 links. Outcomes are consistently secure but we wish to appoint an exceptional individual who has the necessary drive, expertise and inspirational attributes to improve them even further.

The applicant must be able to nurture a passion for studying Business & IT at all levels of ability and be an individual committed to the highest expectations of attainment for all. The curriculum is well considered and provides an extremely solid base from which to extend the 'inspirational learning' mantra of the school. The appointee would be instrumental in designing our new KS3 pathway to ensure that Business Studies and IT are embedded across the school.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills and lead a strong Department in a supportive and dynamic school and growing Trust.

Why William Edwards School?

William Edwards is a large, successful, harmonious and thriving mixed 11-16 comprehensive school. The Thurrock Teaching School Alliance is based at the school. Pupil outcomes across the school are historically strong. However, life at William Edwards is about so much more than just GCSE outcomes and we understand and value the importance of pupil-centred education. We are proud of our national reputation for sport, the arts are extremely strong and we are proud to boast the largestDuke of Edinburgh Award cohort of any school in the East of England. We are one of only a small number of secondary schools nationally to hold both theArtsmark Platinum and the Youth Sports Trust Gold Award for our work in these diverse fields.

Following the school's most recent inspection in May 2019, Ofsted said that "pupils who spoke to inspectors were effusive about their experience in school" and we are delighted that our recent inspection captured our considerable strengths in teaching, pastoral care, behaviour, pupil support and curriculum. We are pleased that these 'cornerstones' of high quality education remain strong at the school.

This is an exciting time to join SWECET. 2020 will see the Trust grow to 6 schools with the opening of the new Orsett Heath Academy which will eventually accommodate 1200 pupils. SWECET is a realistic and forward-thinking Trust which genuinely values its workforce.

In return for their dedication to achieving our vision, we offer our colleagues:
