Level 8 SCP 28-34 - £ 31,371 to £ 36,876 pro-rata (subject to job evaluation)
37 hours per week, term time plus 3 weeks (£ 28,878.48 to £ 33,946.09 actual)
Expected start date 1st September 2019
We are looking to appoint a Bursar for our large, 5 form entry, Infant and Nursery School. Hamstel Infant School and Nursery prides itself on being a child focused caring community; one in which all stakeholders views are valued. We are an inclusive, nurturing school with two Nurture bases, a DfE registered Autism Unit and a Speech and Language Base. The school has excellent facilities for Outdoor Learning and an indoor swimming pool. Hamstel Infant School and Nursery is an academy and part of the Portico Academy Trust. Portico Academy Trust aspires to be at the heart of the local communities it serves. We aim to deliver to local families an excellent primary education and create new opportunities for our pupils.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, highly organised, professional and flexible. A good sense of humour is also a must. It would be advantageous to be qualified to Level 4 AAT or School Business Management (CSBM or DSBM) but this is not essential. A good working knowledge of financial management, managing budgets and preparing budgetary information is essential.
Main scope of the job:
To be responsible and accountable for the schools Financial Resource Management, including preparation and monitoring of the school's budget and strategic financial planning to ensure the school's long term financial sustainability.
Contribute and influence strategic decision making with the Headteacher and school's Senior Leadership Team; to plan, achieve the stated aims, objectives and ethos of the school in accordance with the school development and improvement plan.
Be responsible for statistical information to complete such returns as may be required by DfE, ESFA, LA and Governing Body.
Be responsible for budget monitoring, all income and expenditure, payroll reconciliations, VAT returns, bank reconciliations, profit & loss statements, fixed assets, year end closures etc.
To be responsible for the school's Human Resource Management under the direction of the Trust's HR Manager.
Have oversight of the payroll service for all school staff ensuring that appropriate documentation is produced on a timely basis.
To be responsible for areas of the school's Administration Management including Safeguarding.
To manage the admissions to the school nursery in conjunction with the senior nursery staff.
To be responsible and accountable for Safeguarding, managing the school's Single Central Record.
To be responsible and accountable for processing all DBS, Section 128 and Barred List checks.
To be overall responsible and accountable for the school's I.T. Management Information Systems.
To assist with the management of the school facilities and property including the management of the Nursery.
To advise the Governors and staff on financial, personnel and administrative matters pertaining to the school.
