The job role will be on a flexible basis working minimum 7 hours to 21 hours per week, term time only (38 working weeks). Occasionally there may be additional hours for Panel Hearings when required and agreed.

South Essex Academy Trust currently have a vacancy for a part time Clerk to support our Board of Trustees/Directors and Members in their strategic management and development of the Trust.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate to provide professional clerking services and also deliver advice to the Trustees and Members on governance, constitutional and procedural matters and provide effective administrative support.

The Clerk to Trustees and Members will attend the Trustee or Director meetings (minimum 15 per year) which are conveniently scheduled in the main during the day, mostly in Hadleigh, Essex. From time to time there may be additional meetings such as Complaint or Exclusion Panels, usually held in the relevant Academy.

For the right candidate there is an opportunity to engage in further subcontracted work with associated MATs (for additional remuneration) in addition to expanding this role for administrative services to the Trust Central Team.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A knowledge of multi academy trust and governance procedures and previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills in minute taking, record keeping, information management and keeping various partners and Directors up to date.
  • Excellent communication, listening, literacy and IT skills.
  • Be able to work independently whilst at the same time forming effective relationships with our Board of Trustees, Members and school teams.
  • Ability to organise their own time effectively and work to strict deadlines.
  • Work on a flexible basis and be self-motivated.
  • Can operate with integrity, confidentiality and impartiality.
  • Able use your own initiative and develop your own knowledge of relevant educational and statutory information.
  • Open to change and learning, including your own personal professional development.
