Specialist Learning Support Assistant

Salary Scale: Band 3 - Range 8 to 16

Actual Salary Range: £13,515 to £15,423

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 8.15am - 3.15pm, term time only (37 weeks) + 1 week additional hours

The Thurrock Sensory Service is looking for a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join our successful team based at St Clere's School.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible Specialist Learning Support Assistant to work with young people with a hearing and/or visual impairment. This post is based in the Sensory Service Resource base for Key Stage 3 and 4 students at St Clere's School, however you may be required to work across the primary and secondary age range.

Primarily you will provide learning support for pupils with hearing impairment providing access to lesson content and materials in mainstream classes. You will also carry out small group intervention sessions within the Resource Base, under the guidance of a Specialist teacher and may be asked to support students during extracurricular activities when required.

British Sign Language at level 2 and GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above is essential. Experience in working with young people with hearing/sensory impairment is desirable however candidates with a willingness to undertake training will be considered as in school training and the potential for professional training and development is available.
