Position: Learning Support Lead
Reporting to: Principal
Terms: Grade 5 point 23 term, time plus 1 week, 37.5 hours per week (hours negotiable)

The typical difficulties faced by students with SEND in accessing the curriculum or dealing with social situations
The types of strategies which may be effective in helping students with SEND to overcome these difficulties

The value of regular diagnosis, strategy, rigorous application and effective measurement and reporting
The value of balancing support with challenge
The value of training and upskilling
The successful applicant will be able in respect of SEND practice to
- Diagnose, strategize, set targets, assess and report effectively
- Identify students who may require assessment by or referral to external agencies
- Use spreadsheets and other standard pc packages effectively
- Build effective and impactful student and teacher relationships
- Support, challenge, positively influence and effectively educate SEND students
The successful candidate will be able in respect of leading learning support to
- Act as an effective role model for students and other staff in SEND practice and in general
- Plan, schedule, organise and monitor the workload of up to 6 LSAs to ensure impact and coverage
- Assess and improve the working practices of up to 6 LSAs
- Assess, schedule and monitor the qualifications, skills and experience available in the academy in meeting the current and future needs of SEND students, and plan and organise training as necessary
- Advise the Principal on recruitment needs and significant gaps in skills and experience
- Influence and train formally and informally up to 6 LSAs personally or by organising external programs
- Assess and report on the success of the learning support team against academy targets
- Represent the academy in explaining and promoting the academy's ethos, principles and practices in providing the SEND offer and education in general
- Liaise effectively with the SENDCO in respect of the regulatory framework surrounding SEND
