Finance Manager

Scale 7 Point 19

30 hours per week - Term Time plus 2 additional weeks - Permanent contract

Start Date: 10th October (or when own notice period has expired)

We are seeking to appoint an individual with integrity and financial acumen, who is able to become part of our hardworking team.

Reporting to the Head teacher and Governors your responsibilities will include:

Ø Sharing the management of the school's daily financial administration and be responsible for all relevant financial and accounting procedures

Ø Preparing reports for governors and attending governor meetings.

Ø Budget preparation and analysis

Ø Preparation of assessments of future financial performance

Ø Liaising with major suppliers

Ø Preparation of financial appraisals for projects, as required

Ø Preparation and co-ordination of income generating activities, including Grant applications

Ø Advising on the best utilisation of school funds

Ø Ensuring probity including Best Value

Ø Responsibility for the accurate completion and validity of payroll returns for the payment of all salaries and wages including PAYE, NIC and Superannuation.

Ø Completing statutory returns for the LA and DFE within given time frames.

The successful candidate should be:

Ø experienced in financial management and budgeting

Ø knowledgeable about FMS & SIMS. However, training would be provided to an exceptional candidate with transferable and related skills

Ø someone with a can do and flexible attitude

Ø professional and reliable

Ø willing to work both collaboratively with others and autonomously

Ø able to complete complex returns, write complex letters and reports

Ø able to have an understanding of the procedures and legislation relating to confidentiality and ensuring compliance
