Required September 2022. One to One Learning Support Assistant. Term time including non-pupil days. 30 hours per week 8.45am-3.15pm with 30 minute break
Lyons Hall Primary School is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to support a high needs, non-verbal pupil with autism and global development delay in a mainstream setting. This role is for the duration of the pupil's time at Lyons Hall, whowill be in Year 1 from September.
You will need to work alongside the Class Teacher, SENCo and family to provide effective physical and academic support, personal development and guidance. You will be required to provide a personalised curriculum, which includes speech and language therapy throughout the week. You will offer support at lunchtime and for toileting/nappy changing. Training from outside professionals will be provided for the suitable candidate for all the above requirements.
You will need to be able to communicate and build good relationships with parents.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a good understanding of the Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements of working in such a role and of the primary EYFS curriculum
- Be experienced in using Makaton for communication
- Have experience of supporting children with ASD in a mainstream setting
- Be able to take direction from a range of stakeholders and be adaptable in your approach
- Have a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs and the commitment that children are at the centre of everything you do
- Excellent communication skills with children, their families and your colleagues
