Learning Support Assistant

Fixed Term Contract

Scale 3 - salary £12,430

Term time only, 5 days a week, 8.45am - 3.15pm

Larkrise Primary School is part of The Eveleigh LINK Academy Trust and is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and capable learning support assistant. Previous experience is highly desirable. You will be joining a team of hard working, friendly and adaptable LSAs working under the direction of class teachers supporting in lessons and running interventions.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced LSA to work with a pupil with high support needs, spanning across a number of areas, including cognition and learning, social interaction, emotional regulation and speech, language and communication. The pupil benefits highly from a strong rapport with a familiar adult and a warm and friendly approach.

The position will involve working with class teachers and the SENDCO to help raise the learning and attainment of an individual pupil and promote their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion by working towards outcomes on their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). They will support the pupil, individually or in a small group, so they can access a differentiated curriculum, take part in learning, experience a sense of achievement and help boost their self-confidence. The pupil requires enhanced support during transitional points of the day and social interactions, and their keyworker will require the ability to develop an understanding of what heightens their anxiety and respond to this with an understanding manner and calming activities.

Suitable candidates will need to be able to work as part of a team and able to liaise with other members of staff. The successful applicant will be organised with good communication skills, able to demonstrate initiative and flexibility, and understand the professional nature of the role.

Qualifications: good numeracy and literacy skills - (GCSE or equivalent in English and maths are highly desirable).
