Caretaker (with or without schoolhouse)

Salary range: Scale 5, Point 8-11 (£21,489 - £22,766)

06:30 - 09:15, 15:45 - 20:00 Monday to Friday (37 hours per week) - timings negotiable

52.14 weeks per year with 20 days annual leave each year in addition to statutory holidays. This will increase to 25 days after 5 years service

Additional work / hours will be recognised through overtime

The Governing Body are looking to appoint a Caretaker to start in September 2022. This job requires someone who takes pride in their work.

Your job role will include:

· Ensuring the site complies with Health and Safety regulations

· Maintaining and ensuring the security of the buildings and property including the operation of fire and burglar alarms and keyholder responsibilities.

· Operating the heating plant so that the required temperatures are maintained in the School premises and an adequate supply of hot water is available. Carrying out frost precaution procedures.

· Carrying out procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident or major damage.

· The Caretaker will undertake painting, maintenance, small plumbing works, and other repairs referred to him/her by the School Business Manager / Headteacher.

· Responsible for the management of cleaning staff

· The Caretaker will have particular regard to:

o the removal of litter within and outside the building and the emptying of bins, the sweeping of paths and the removal of leaves, dirt and debris from gullies.

o the prompt removal of graffiti or chewing gum from desks and elsewhere.

o the removal of internal and external display notices, signs, etc. once the event has taken place.

o the preparation of the School for special occasions or evening activities with particular regard to seating, the appearance of the stage, the functioning of the public

address system, the closure of curtains and the preliminary setting up (if appropriate) of refreshment facilities.

o managing the cleaning staff.

· Receiving and handling instructions concerning the letting of the School premises, including preparing for and clearing up after these activities and restoring normal School life.

· Swimming pool maintenance - training will be provided

· Saturday swimming letting 08:30 - 15:30 - paid at £23 per hour - negotiable
