This independent day and boarding School in north Essex has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified and passionate English Teacher to join this 'Excellent in Every Aspect' ISI rated School. The role will require the successful person to teach across Years 9 to 13, depending on prior experience and qualifications.
Moving into a brand new teaching space from September 2022, our vibrant and creative English and Media Studies Department consists of a Head of Department and nine teachers. There is a collegiate culture, with collaborative planning and the sharing of best practice a key feature. Our pupils experience great success at GCSE, with a healthy number going on to study English at A Level or International Baccalaureate. We are dedicated to promoting a culture of high standards and hard work that will foster a lifelong appreciation of language and literature. It is essential that the successful person is committed to delivering exceptional learning to our students, has excellent subject knowledge and is willing to fully contribute to the co-curricular activities at the School, including boarding, tutoring, sports and activity programmes.
This role would suit either an experienced teacher, an ECT, or someone suitably qualified looking to enter the profession. The school has an excellent support programme for beginning teachers and works with IStip to enable ECTs to be awarded full QTS: in our recent inspection of our ECT programme through IStip they confirmed that "Felsted School is running an excellent programme of induction…[and] is committed to developing new staff, particularly those starting out in the profession." There is the potential for an unqualified teacher to be supported through a PGCE programme in due course.

Felsted is a leading independent co-educational day and boarding school, situated in the picturesque village of Felsted in North Essex. Originally founded by Richard Lord Riche as a Church of England Grammar School, Felsted School is proud of a heritage that dates back to 1564. In 2014 the School celebrate its 450th anniversary; one of only a handful of schools in the country that have claimed this historic milestone. The event was marked by an historic service at St Paul’s Cathedral together with a very special visit from Her Majesty and His Royal Highness to signed two plaques; one commemorating the 450th anniversary and the other to mark the opening of our brand new Boarding House Follyfield.
