We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive 1-1 Teaching Assistant to support a visually impaired child in Year 3. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with SEND so that the child achieves the very best from their experience at our school. The role involves supporting the child during morning teaching and lunchtime as well as supporting Braille/IT programmes.

You will also need to:

· Have excellent verbal and communication skills with minimum grade C Mathematics and English GCSE or equivalent

· Be a positive team player with a good sense of humour

· Be able to work within the Christian ethos of the school

It would be an advantage to have knowledge/experience of Braille but full training will be provided for the right candidate. It is essential that you have experience of working with children with a range of learning needs and are willing to learn to visually read and transcribe Braille if you do not already do so. You will also need to work closely with the family and school colleagues. There will be ongoing weekly support from experts Braille and teachers for the visually impaired.

The post will be in our mixed Year 3/4 class so experience of the primary curriculum for this age group would be an advantage as would a first aid certificate.

Come and join our small, friendly and happy team as we strive to do the very best for our 106 enthusiastic, well-mannered children.

Visits to our school are encouraged and warmly welcomed. Please call 01245 400327 to arrange a visit.
