Christopher's Cottage is a Specialist special educational needs respite Care Home forchildren and young people aged 5 - 18 years.

At Christopher's Cottage, our ethos is to make a positive difference to the personal, social and educational lives of the children and young people who access our provision. We provide and individualised and child-centred approach to the care of children and young people, and work in partnership with parents, carers, schools and other professionals, as well as the community.

We strive to create a positive environment where our children and young people are offered experiences and opportunities to help them achieve their aspirations and goals. We aim to create a safe space for our children and young people so that they feel safe and secure, allowing them to prosper and enjoy their time with us.

Hours

Full-time hours are 37 hours per week, which will include a mix of early and late shifts, as well as waking night shifts. We are also looking for bank staff who will be on a zero-hour contract.

Applicants

We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate people who have the ability and skills to provide outstanding care to our children and young people. Applicants should ideally have at least one years' experience with working with children and young people, but this is not essential for the right candidates.

A full and valid driver's license is preferable.

Experience Required

Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's workforce is now a requirement and new staff are required to undertake this qualification within 6 months of their start date. This will be funded by Christopher's Cottage.

Pay and Benefits

Local Government pay scale point 6 - 12 (£10.21 - £11.50 per hour) depending on experience and qualifications.

30 days paid annual leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays) rising to 35 days after 5 years full service.

Information about the School

The St. Christopher School is a specialist special school for Communication & Interaction for pupils aged 3 - 19. We work with a wide range of pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, communication & interaction difficulties and range of learning difficulties. The school is part of SEN Trust Southend.

SEN Trust Southend opened as a formal partnership on 1 September 2017. The four special schools, The St. Christopher School, Kingsdown School, Lancaster School and St. Nicholas School have always worked closely together to create a strong group of special schools which aim to meet the majority of needs of those pupils who require specialist support in a specialist educational school with Southend. We created the Multi-Academy Trust to help us continue this work.
