Alec Hunter Academy is a mixed, oversubscribed 11-16 comprehensive school with an established reputation as a welcoming and forward-thinking learning community. Ofsted graded the school as 'good' for the first time in its history in July 2017, with the report noting that "School leaders have established a culture where expectations of pupils and teachers are high and improvement is rapid". The Humanities Curriculum Area is among the strongest in our school, with high student uptake and consistently impressive GCSE outcomes.
Alec Hunter is a member of the Saffron Academy Trust, working in close partnership with a small family of schools in north-west Essex, including Saffron Walden County High, one of the highest performing schools in the county.
