Are you a remarkable leader that wants more?

More opportunity to inspire our children to choose a REMARKABLE LIFE.

Ashingdon Primary Academy is part of a family of schools brought together by one common vision and passionate belief that each and every child can lead a remarkable life. An excellent education transforms lives and every pupil who attends one of our schools is given the support, care and opportunity they need to flourish. The academy is now looking to appoint an ambitious Headteacher for September 2021. The role would be ideal for an existing Headteacher or an experienced Deputy Headteacher with proven impact of school improvement. Could this be you?

The academy dates back to 1873 and is steeped in history and heritage alongside its excellent facilities including a large sports field and a heated swimming pool! The academy is a key part of the village and local community and benefits from a small school feel and engaged parents.

Sadly our current Executive Headteacher has secured an exciting promotion outside of the Trust and will be leaving us in August 2021. We are looking for an experienced leader who can build on the good work completed so far. You will be driven by continuous school improvement and will lead the next phase of our school's journey to Good/Outstanding. You will have a proven track record in raising standards whilst ensuring our vibrant and happy environment is maintained.

We have committed staff who are willing to go above and beyond, children who are kind and polite and who love to learn and parents who are incredibly supportive. Our new Headteacher will enjoy the autonomy of leadership rooted in the local community, whilst working in partnership with the regional cluster of academies and AET's National Director of Primary Schools, Lauren Costello, with support from a committed local governing board.

AET has led the way in the response to the covid pandemic, with children at the centre. Investment in IT equipment for our most deprived learners and high quality virtual learning for all meant education continued. Robust risk procedures were followed to keep our children and staff safe and we shared best practice to support each other. Using what we've learned over the last few years, we now have an extraordinarily ambitious vision of a new model of education for the future to be rolled out over the next few years.

To arrange a school visit or to find out more, call Tanya Bentham, Head of Talent on 0203 947 5689 or email: recruitment@academiesenterprisetrust.org or contact Tom Nutley, Recruitment Consultant, Tes on 07767 001965 or email: tom.nutley@tes.com. Apply online.

Join us to be part of something special and inspire their remarkable.

Closing date: Friday 5 March 2021

Interview date: Friday 19 March 2021 and Thursday 25 March 2021

Academies Enterprise Trust embraces diversity and promotes equality of opportunity. Co-headship, job share, part time and flexible working opportunities will be considered.

Information about the School

Welcome to Ashingdon Primary Academy and thank you for your interest in our school. Ashingdon village is a small rural community, easily reached from Rochford, Southend, Hockley and Rayleigh.

We have approximately 210 children on roll and provide places for pupils from Reception to Year 6. Pupils join us mainly from the villages of Ashingdon and South Fambridge as well as from parts of Canewdon, Hockley, Rochford and Hullbridge.

We are lucky to be set on a large, attractive site in open, green-belt countryside. The accommodation is made up of 7 well-equipped classrooms, each with their own interactive whiteboard. We also have a library, a large hall and a learning support area for working with small groups of children.

Outside, the academy has a spacious playground, and a large playing field, as well as a very popular Jungle Gym and Trim Trail. On our field we have a large pagoda, where older children are able to eat their packed lunches when the weather is fine. There is a separate Early Years garden, where the Reception children play for their first year at the academy. We also have our very own heated swimming pool.

Curriculum

We aim to develop each and every pupil to their full potential. To do this, we teach a broad and balanced curriculum and use a range of teaching and learning styles in order to make the children's day as interesting, stimulating and challenging as possible.

Our children are taught in mixed-ability classes for the majority of their subjects. At other times, throughout the whole Academy, the children may be taught some specialist subjects by a teacher other than their own (e.g. Music or French). The basic requirements for our curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2 are laid down by the National Curriculum and consists of:

Core Subjects English Maths Science ICT RE Foundation Subjects Geography History Design Technology. Art PE PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) Citizenship

This year we have included French in our KS2 curriculum.

More detailed information for each of these subjects is available on separate pamphlets. We also aim to keep parents updated on any new initiatives which we undertake and to actively involve you in your children's learning in as many ways as possible. For example, in the past we have run workshops to inform parents of how we teach reading in the Foundation Stage, Maths in the whole Academy, and how we assess your child's progress.

The Foundation Stage Curriculum differs slightly and an Early Years Curriculum is taught in the Reception Class. We strive to create a secure and stimulating environment where learning can take place through short periods of structured play and interactive teaching, There are six areas of learning:

Personal, Social, and Emotional development. Communication, Language, and Literacy Development Mathematical Development Knowledge and Understanding of the World. Physical Development Creative Development
