Castledon School are looking for someone who has a passion and / or experience of working with pupils with either ASD or social / emotional needs.

● Lightbulb moments - we are always looking for new ideas to improve our curriculum, clubs, social activities and fundraising initiatives…

The Role:

We are looking for a proactive Job coach to help people enhance their strengths and improve their job skills. You will be working with young people who have complex needs and learning difficulties that need a varying amount of support to be able to learn the skills necessary to have a successful career. A job coach must be a mentor eager to support their colleagues, work placements and students. You must be able to discover people's strengths and weaknesses and tell them what works best for them. Having communication skills partnered with critical thinking are prerequisites for this job.

Key Responsibilities:

● Develop effective job coaching by ensuring both the students and work placements are supported and that the experience is positive for both parties.

● Communicate with students to understand their goals and ambitions

● Use student passports to ensure seamless use of strategies that have been identified to support them

● Assist students to discover and overcome their personal barriers

● Assess the strengths of individuals via the skills builder programme and support them to learn the soft skills needed for work.

● Guide students within the workplace, in learning to complete job tasks

● Assist people with disabilities in developing social and life skills

● Advice work placements of the ways they can make accommodations for people with disabilities

● Monitor and evaluate the progress of students

● Keep records and documentation

● Be proactive in finding new work placements and agencies that can support our students

● Represent the college in the community professionally

● Delivery of the Achieve programme (Princess Trust)

Qualifications:

● Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD, MLD and ASD

● Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate

● Proven experience as job coach

● Experience in working with people with disabilities

● Experience in developing employment plans

● Ability to adhere to regulations and standards

● Working knowledge of computers

● Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

● Excellent organisational and problem-solving ability

● Ability to inspire and motivate

● Experience within a school environment

● Ability to be adaptable and creative

Hours: 9.15am - 3.30pm (30 mins unpaid lunch break)

Hours per week: 28.75

Weeks per year: 38

Salary: Scale 4 (6-7)

Castledon School is a Special School for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties and additional complex needs from Year 1 - Year 14.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
