Alec Hunter Academy is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a well-led, high-performing and supportive team. With a keen interest in literacy and numeracy support, the successful applicant will have the ability to help students to reach their full potential by working with them individually, in small groups or in the classroom as part of the Student Development Team. This position would particularly suit someone who is considering a future career in teaching, offering experience of working with young people in an educational setting.
Applicants must have excellent numeracy and literacy skills, including Maths and English at GCSE grade C or above. Previous experience is not mandatory, since support and training will be provided, but applications are particularly welcome from people who have previously provided personal care to physically impaired children, as well as those with other learning difficulties. Above all, it is the ability to engender positive relationships with young people which is the most essential attribute for this role.
Alec Hunter Academy is a mixed, 11-16 comprehensive school, graded 'good' by Ofsted in 2017, with an established reputation as a warm and welcoming community. The school works in partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, one of the highest performing schools in Essex, and several other secondary and primary schools through its membership of the Saffron Academy Trust.
Our school is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. A Disclosure and Barring Service check at enhanced level will be required for this post. If you would like to visit the school prior to making an application, please do not hesitate to contact us to arrange this.
