Long Ridings Primary School is looking for an inspirational leader and passionate educator to become its new Headteacher in January 2021.

We are a maintained, two-form entry school for children from four to eleven years, with a current pupil population of just under 420. The School is located in an attractive suburban area of Brentwood, a short distance outside the M25 corridor, with excellent road and rail communications close at hand. Unusually for such a location, it has the benefit of substantial green areas which are used for a range of sporting and other outdoor activities, and which are private and secure. On part of those grounds, there is an independently-owned and operated nursery with which the School works closely.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an ambitious education professional, with high expectations to lead, inspire and motivate and who is passionate about learning, committed to excellence and raising standards of attainment. They envisage that such an individual will:

  • provide strong, unambiguous leadership and be able to demonstrate a proven track record in strategic and operational management, including the delegation of responsibilities in changing circumstances
  • be able to demonstrate open-mindedness, innovative thinking and enthusiasm
  • improve the current high standards of pastoral care and academic achievement through a broad curriculum that will be inspiring for pupils and exciting to teach
  • create a culture of high expectation, safety and support, where all pupils are empowered to achieve their best, supported by a curriculum appropriate to their needs and abilities
  • further promote a clear pupil-centred vision and complement the School's established ethos of "Learn and discover, Respect one another, Perform to your best and achieve Success"
  • foster and further develop the established caring and inclusive environment to maximise the potential of every pupil according to their individual talents and circumstances, ensuring equal opportunities are available to all
  • work collaboratively with staff and governors to ensure the cultivation of a motivated, caring and focused team and who will support them through coaching and mentoring in order to achieve their full potential
  • engage and respond to appropriate challenges in order to ensure the best outcomes for the School and all its stakeholders
  • have a well-defined grasp of the financial circumstances and prospects of the School
  • possess a clear understanding of the benefits and challenges of potential academisation

In return we can offer well-behaved, well- motivated pupils, a caring and stimulating environment, an enthusiastic, committed staff and a wealth of resources to support the further development of the School and the pupils' experiences and outcomes.

The School's web site will offer other further insight into what Long Ridings is able to offer staff and pupils at www.longridings-pri.org.uk

To arrange a virtual discussion or a possible site visit to the School (dependent upon the prevailing circumstances), please contact the School on 01277 222488 during the term time or email the Chair of Governors on governors@longridings.essex.sch.uk.
