First Aid Administrator

We are seeking to appoint a professional, calm and organised colleague as a First Aid Administrator to commence 1 September 2020.

Applicants should be flexible, able to work on their own initiative, under pressure and have the ability to prioritise to meet demands and deadlines for the benefit of our students. This is a varied role giving first aid and administrative support to facilitate the smooth running of Plume Academy based at our Fambridge Road Campus.

The role will be term time only, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am - 3.30pm on Friday. A full job description and person specification is available upon request and this role will be band 2 in the range of 11-14 pro-rata, in line with Local Government Pay Scales

Personal Qualities

The successful applicant should have qualifications in Maths and English at minimum C grade GCSE or equivalent Level 2 qualification. It is desirable that the applicant has further relevant qualifications such as medical qualifications or hold a first aid at work certificate. It is also desirable for the candidate to have had experience of working with young people.

Applicants should be hardworking, enthusiastic and have a high level of commitment and ability to focus the wellbeing of students. They should have an interest in wellbeing within schools and a high level of integrity.

Responsibilities of the Post Holder

  • To provide first aid to staff and students, record incidents/accidents and maintain the medical register
  • To administer and update Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs)
  • To ensure first aid resources are regularly checked and replenished where necessary; this includes first aid boxes used for trips and visits
  • To provide back-up/cover for reception duties - answering and relaying messages; meeting & greeting staff, students and visitors
  • To carry out general office duties to support all stakeholders including parental concerns and queries as appropriate
  • To assist in the undertaking of administrative work in relation to whole academy and community events as required, including emails and letters to students, parents/carers and other stakeholders
  • To assist with organising events as required including ticket sales if necessary
  • To assist with the administration of the locker system at busy periods of the year
  • To assist with the distribution and sale of uniform items

Wider Contribution

Full time support staff may also have opportunities to contribute to the extra-curricular programme. This is very wide ranging and can often enable staff to contribute particular skills and interests where they meet academy needs. Applicants should indicate if they have particular interests and this would be discussed at the time of interview.

Remuneration

Annual salary for an administrator will be in accordance with the academy Local Government Pay Scale, which for appointment for a full time post currently involves a salary of up to £18,531 pro-rata (Band 2 Point 11-14 2019/20 pay awards), however, actual salary offered will be £14,735, pro rata equivalent of point 11 including an allowance for holiday pay. Salaries are reviewed by national negotiation with effect from 1st April each year. Progression through the pay scale is subject to an acceptable annual performance development review process.
