Required for September 2020, an enthusiastic and well qualified teacher of Mandarin to join our outstanding Languages Department. As well as teaching Chinese Mandarin, Anglo European is also a Confucius Classroom, manages the Essex-Jiangsu Resources Centre and is a Hub School, for the DFE's Mandarin Excellence programme. The successful candidate will be expected to promote the teaching and learning of Mandarin Chinese language and culture, facilitate cross-cultural exchanges and enrichment programmes and further develop pedagogy and practice in teaching languages with the support of and supportive, committed and innovative Languages Department. The school has three partner schools in China and regularly visits the country as part of the school's extensive visits and exchanges programme.
The school is looking for a teacher who has shown has the ability to work effectively with other colleagues to support the development of Chinese Mandarin at AES and in our partner schools. This involves a wide-ranging programme of enrichment. An outstanding teacher who is looking to develop their leadership skills or an ambitious NQT with leadership potential would both be considered.
This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher of Mandarin to join a successful and diverse team of language specialists in a school which believes strongly in all children learning a minimum of two languages and offering 8 different languages at GCSE. Mandarin is taught currently in Years 7 to 11 as part of the Mandarin Excellence Programme and in the 6th form as part of the International Baccalaureate and abinitio programmes.
The Anglo European School is a comprehensive school with a curriculum informed by a strong international dimension and with students who demonstrate outstanding personal development. All members of staff working at the school support the aims and ethos of the school and participate in the extensive visits programme.
