Teaching Assistant

Pay Scale: Band 2 point 3 (within ranges 1-6 depending on experience)

Term time plus 5 inset days (39 weeks)

Full Time

TEACHING ASSISTANTS - FIXED TERM CONTRACTS

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and hardworking teaching assistants for either 1:1 or small group, class-based support. Our SEND needs include the following:

Autistic Spectrum Disorder
Down's Syndrome
Intimate Care needs
Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
Speech and Language difficulties
Oppositional Defiant Disorder

In addition to your role in class, you will be expected to:

· Help prepare or adapt resources.

· To work alongside external agencies, such as the Specialist Teaching Team and attend meetings such as 'One Plans' and annual reviews.

· Carry out any duties as directed by the class teacher, Head of Learning Support or Head Teacher as required.

The school is committed to Safeguarding and all appointments will be subject to receipt of all relevant checks and a clear DBS.

Essential knowledge and experience:

Recent experience of working in a similar role
A good standard of English and Maths (to GCSE level)
Relevant knowledge of Safeguarding procedures and why these are important
Relevant training
Experience of working with parents to support a pupil
Enjoys being with children
Ability to work independently using own initiative
Physically fit due to physical demands of post
Patience, empathy and understanding
Able to work well as part of team
Accepting of advice and direction with a willingness to act upon this
Flexible and adaptable
Respectful of confidentiality
Ensures high standards in behaviour and pupil learning. Working in accordance with school policies
Willing to attend training and a commitment to professional development

Desirable
Child Care qualifications to NVQ level 2 or above
First aid certificates
