The Sandon School is an oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive of 1260 students with an excellent reputation in the local area. We have superb facilities and view ourselves as an innovative teaching and learning community. The school is situated close to the A12 on the east side of Chelmsford within easy reach of Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend and Brentwood and has good public transport links.
We require from Easter 2020 an enthusiastic and ambitious teacher to join the Student Services team as Head of Year 10. We are seeking an excellent, highly qualified and well-organised teacher with experience in the pastoral work of a school, who is able to communicate an enthusiasm for learning and foster a strong parent partnership. Applicants should have credibility with colleagues, students and parents and a proven track record of diffusing volatile/challenging people and responding to vulnerable students. The capacity to prioritise, delegate and utilise support is also a key requirement.
The Student Services team currently comprises three Heads of School, seven Heads of Year and two Pastoral Leads who are all committed to raising students' aspirations and achievements. The Heads of Year work on rotation, moving each September with their year group up to the Sixth Form, then returning to Year 7.
