The North Essex Multi-Academy Trust was established in September 2013 and currently consists of two secondary schools both recently judged as "Good" by Ofsted.

The position will be based at The Ramsey Academy, Halstead. ("A good school where all leaders and managers have high ambitions for the students, ensuring every student has the opportunity to achieve as well as they can" - Ofsted 2015)

The Trust would like to recruit a Pathways Manager for 30 hours a week during term time plus 5 non-student days.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to work with members of the Senior Leadership Team to build on the work of the current Pathways Manager.

The core purpose of Pathways is to provide learning and behaviour strategies for students to enable them to survive and cope with the challenges and barriers they face in school, in lessons, with teachers, with students that day, that week. Programmes of support will address the individual needs of students and help them to overcome barriers to learning which may be preventing them from achieving their full potential and developing self-confidence and resilience.

The focus and emphasis is to be developing practical behaviour management strategies and techniques that young people can use in school to develop their levels of self-confidence and resilience. Students will be supported to develop a sense of belonging to the school community, a sense of self-worth and competence and of empowerment to make decisions about their life in school. Pathways provision underpin and support other behaviour management work in and beyond the school. You will be working with parents, academy staff and outside agencies as deemed appropriate.

You will work as part of a dedicated, close knit enthusiastic team delivering both in-class support and small group work to children with both learning and emotional and behavioural difficulties. The post will involve working for the majority of the time in the Pathways area but may also include classroom based support and liaison with existing provision, such as Learning Support and the Behaviour & Learning Support Hub.

The Manager will be supported by a number of teaching staff and staff from the Learning Support Department. The number of students accessing Pathways will vary depending on need and students have supervised access to the area at break and lunchtimes.

The role may also include:

Pastoral support e.g. fulfilling the role of a Form Tutor or temporary cover for this role if required
Intervention support e.g. supervision of Homework Club, additional literacy or numeracy support during tutor time or development of study skills

Experience of working in a school or with young people would be an advantage. Candidates should be educated to GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths. Graduates are encouraged to apply.

The position is term time only (39 weeks) for 30 hours per week with an additional holiday allowance of 5.3 weeks per year. The salary is within the range Band 4 Points 19 - 24 on the LGS pay scale. The actual starting salary is £17,803 per annum depending on experience. The actual hours working hours may be flexible depending on the needs of the students.

The role offers an excellent opportunity for those considering entering the teaching profession to gain valuable experience to support future applications.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointments will be subject to DBS clearance and satisfactory references.

An application form can be downloaded from the website www.ramseyacademy.com and should be returned to Mrs C Downes at the Academy - cdownes@ramseyacademy.com
