37 hours per week

(actual working hours 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 3.30pm, Friday)

Term time only + 1 week holiday working

Band 3, Pt Range 6 - 17 (Actual salary £16,287 - £20,251 per annum)

The King John School in Benfleet is a heavily oversubscribed 11-18 mixedcomprehensive of over 2000 students, of which approximately 420 are in the sixth form. The school is exceptionally proud of the achievements of our students and the ethos of the school. Our results are consistently strong and over 76% of our students achieved a standard pass in English and mathematics at GCSE (Grade 4 or above) in 2018 and we are recognised by the Department for Education for our proactive promotion of the English Baccalaureate within our curriculum.

Our A-level results have been exemplary, with over 50% of year 13 students gaining A* - B grades in all of their subjects. We are in the top 15% of the Country for A-level outcomes compared to 2817 schools and colleges. The school enjoys an excellent reputation, having received a letter from the Director of Education in September 2017 commending the school on the 'fantastic' results that year.

We are looking to recruit a skilled and suitably qualified HR Officer to join our successful school and Multi-Academy Trust. Responsible to the Director of HR and Headteacher whilst working closely with the Senior Leadership team, the HR Officer will provide guidance and support on all aspects of employment within the school. The successful applicant will manage be responsible for the day to day operations of the HR function which includes all administration for recruitment (advertising, arranging interviews, candidate tasks etc.), whilst complying with the pre-employment checks and recruitment policies.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for processing resignations, the reporting and monitoring of sickness absence, providing reports on absence and staffing for Governors at Governing Body Meetings, updating of SIMS personnel database, monthly return and administration on our payroll system and some pension admin related duties.

We are seeking applications from HR professionals with experience of working in the HR field preferably within the education sector. The post holder will be required to work flexibly and autonomously and will have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to build positive and effective working relationships across the schools within our new Multi-Academy Trust.

The successful candidate will handle a wide range of generalist HR issues and will be a self-starter who is confident in working on their own initiative.

The school has good staff retention and is wholly committed to continued professional development.
